The All-Russian Sechenov Olympiad
The All-Russian Sechenov Olympiad for schoolchildren is held by I.M. Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University in general subjects - chemistry and biology (with a medical focus).
The Olympiad is held in two stages.
Pre-professional
Examination
The pre-professional exam is an independent assessment of the eleventh-graders' achievement after completing pre-professional courses in medical classes, conducted in collaboration with representatives of universities and employers. The exam consists of two parts: theoretical and practical. Taking the theoretical part, each participant receives an individual test compiled before the exam in the electronic system.
The practical part consists of two individual cases, which include tasks for providing first aid, carrying out simple medical procedures, and assessing the physiological parameters of a person. The exam is held at the sites of I.M. Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University that provide the appropriate supplies and equipment.
Professional training
Students of medical classes can take the following professional training courses in vocational colleges: Assistant patient care nurse, Medical record administrator. Upon completing the training and passing the qualifying examination, students receive a qualification certificate.
The first stage is the qualifying round, carried out extramurally with the help of distance learning technology.
The second is the final round, conducted intramurally at I.M. Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University.
The courses aim at expanding students' interest in working and obtaining pre-professional skills and competences which are necessary for a future profession.
