The Kurchatov Institute National Research Center conducts tours for students participating in the National Research Center "Kurchatov Institute" of convergent (interdisciplinary) education project.
At the meetings, the students of the Kurchatov project schools learn about interdisciplinary research, priorities of science and technology development. The meetings contribute to the popularization of science among schoolchildren, as well as support conscious choice of their educational path.
The olympiad covers three branches, engineering design, technology, and science and technology, and is carried out in two stages: qualifying and final. The qualifying stage is public and held remotely. Each participant has to complete the tasks requiring applied knowledge of physics, computer
science, chemistry, and biology.
The final stage consists of three
rounds. The first round (held remotely)
involves working on project-based
(case) tasks in teams. The next rounds require in-person
participation and involve working out
application-specific problems in teams or individually.
Pre-professional
Olympiad
Interdisciplinary Convergent Education Olympiad (ICEO)
The Olympiad has been held since 2016. The first round is carried out remotely and is open for all tenth-graders of the schools participating in pre-professional education projects. The second round requires in-person participation and involves working out advanced interdisciplinary problems.
